Currypan recipe
Here’s a recipe for Curry Pan to serve 4 people:
Ingredients:
For the curry filling:
- 200g potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 carrot, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 200g ground meat (beef, pork, or chicken)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons curry powder
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water
For the bread dough:
- 400g bread flour
- 7g instant yeast
- 30g sugar
- 7g salt
- 240ml warm water
- 30g unsalted butter, softened
For coating:
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 100g panko breadcrumbs
Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the curry filling:
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent.
- Add ground meat and cook until browned.
- Add diced potatoes and carrots to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes.
- Stir in curry powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Add water to cover the ingredients and simmer until the vegetables are tender and the sauce thickens. Allow the curry filling to cool.
- Prepare the bread dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine bread flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Add softened butter and continue kneading until well incorporated.
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Assemble the Curry Pan:
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape them into balls.
- Flatten each dough ball into a circle and place a spoonful of curry filling in the center.
- Gather the edges of the dough and pinch tightly to seal, shaping it into a smooth ball.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Coat and fry:
- Dip each filled dough ball in beaten eggs, then coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 170°C (340°F).
- Carefully lower the coated curry buns into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Serve:
- Remove the Curry Pan from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot and enjoy the crispy and flavorful Curry Pan as a delightful snack or meal!
