Tomato sauce recipe
Here’s a simple Italian-style tomato sauce recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces (800g) canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well.
- Add dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
