Srilankan fish curry recipe
Here’s a simple Sri Lankan fish curry recipe:
Ingredients:
- 500g fish (cut into chunks)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 green chillies (slit)
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add green chillies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and curry powder. Sauté for a minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
- Place fish pieces into the pan, coat them with the spice mixture, and cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in coconut milk and simmer until the fish is cooked through.
- Adjust salt to taste and let the curry simmer for a few more minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, if desired.
