Here’s a simple Sri Lankan fish curry recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 500g fish (cut into chunks)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 green chillies (slit)
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
  2. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add green chillies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and curry powder. Sauté for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  5. Place fish pieces into the pan, coat them with the spice mixture, and cook for a few minutes.
  6. Pour in coconut milk and simmer until the fish is cooked through.
  7. Adjust salt to taste and let the curry simmer for a few more minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, if desired.

Serve the Sri Lankan fish curry with rice or bread. Enjoy your meal!
