Srilankan beef curry recipe
Here’s a simple Sri Lankan beef curry recipe:
Ingredients:
- 500g beef, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 2 tablespoons Sri Lankan curry powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 1 cup coconut milk
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large pan and sauté onions until golden brown.
- Add garlic, ginger, green chilies, and curry leaves. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add Sri Lankan curry powder, chili powder, turmeric powder, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves. Stir well.
- Add beef cubes and brown them on all sides.
- Once the beef is browned, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft.
- Pour in coconut milk and season with salt. Mix well.
- Cover the pan and let it simmer on low heat for about 1-1.5 hours until the beef is tender and the flavors are infused.
- Adjust salt and spice levels according to your taste.
- Serve the Sri Lankan beef curry with rice or roti.
