Sushi Rice:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the appliance instructions.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat rice vinegar, sugar, and salt over low heat until sugar dissolves.
  4. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool to room temperature.

Soy-Ginger Dipping Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, sugar, and sesame oil until well combined.
  2. Adjust the sweetness or saltiness according to your taste.

Spicy Mayo Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, and soy sauce until smooth.
  2. Adjust the Sriracha amount based on your desired level of spiciness.

Sushi Rolls:

Ingredients:

  • Sushi rice
  • Nori (seaweed) sheets
  • Fresh fish slices (like tuna or salmon)
  • Vegetables (cucumber, avocado, and carrot strips)
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi rolling mat.
  2. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
  3. Add a strip of fish and your choice of vegetables.
  4. Roll the sushi tightly using the mat, sealing the edge with a little water.
  5. Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife.

Serve the sushi rolls with the soy-ginger dipping sauce and a side of spicy mayo for dipping. Enjoy your homemade sushi!
