Lachha paratha
Lachha Paratha, also known as Lachha Roti or Lachhamari, is a popular Indian flatbread. Here’s a simple recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- Water (for kneading)
- Salt (to taste)
- Ghee or oil (for layering)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and a pinch of salt.
- Gradually add water and knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic. Let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions and roll each into a small disc.
- Brush the disc with ghee or oil and sprinkle with a little flour.
- Place another disc on top and repeat the process, creating a stack of layered discs.
- Roll out the stacked discs into a thin sheet, taking care not to press too hard.
- Heat a griddle or flat pan and cook the rolled-out dough until both sides have golden brown spots.
- Brush the cooked paratha with more ghee or oil.
- Repeat the process for the remaining dough portions.
Enjoy your homemade Lachha Paratha! Serve it with your favorite curry or raita.
