Here’s a simple recipe for Bechamel sauce:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and whisk continuously to form a smooth paste. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, but do not let it brown.
  3. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  4. Continue cooking and whisking until the sauce thickens, usually around 5-7 minutes.
  5. Season the Bechamel sauce with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg if desired.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat, and your Bechamel sauce is ready to use in various dishes.
