Muhammara is a delicious Middle Eastern dip made with red peppers and walnuts. Here’s a simple recipe for 4 servings:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large red bell peppers, roasted and peeled
  • 1 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon pomegranate molasses
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Roast the red peppers until the skin is charred. Once cooled, peel and remove seeds.
  2. In a food processor, combine the roasted red peppers, toasted walnuts, garlic, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, tomato paste, and pomegranate molasses.
  3. Pulse the ingredients until coarsely chopped.
  4. With the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture becomes a smooth paste.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer the muhammara to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve with pita bread or vegetable sticks. Enjoy your muhammara!
