SUSHI RICE AND ROLLS
Sushi Rice:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/3 cup rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Combine rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the appliance instructions.
- In a small saucepan, heat rice vinegar, sugar, and salt over low heat until sugar dissolves.
- Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool to room temperature.
Soy-Ginger Dipping Sauce:
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, sugar, and sesame oil until well combined.
- Adjust the sweetness or saltiness according to your taste.
Spicy Mayo Sauce:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, and soy sauce until smooth.
- Adjust the Sriracha amount based on your desired level of spiciness.
Sushi Rolls:
Ingredients:
- Sushi rice
- Nori (seaweed) sheets
- Fresh fish slices (like tuna or salmon)
- Vegetables (cucumber, avocado, and carrot strips)
- Sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi rolling mat.
- Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
- Add a strip of fish and your choice of vegetables.
- Roll the sushi tightly using the mat, sealing the edge with a little water.
- Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife.
